SAFE TRANSPORTATION OF SECONDARY FUELS

Alternative fuels are a trending topic worldwide – and the cement industry is no exception. Over 50% of heat is generated using secondary or substitute fuels. The mineral content of secondary fuels is recycled and incorporated into the end product. Such fuels are more CO2-efficient than fossil fuels, and their cost-effectiveness & ecological benefit are substantial.

Since 2022, ESSER has partnered with EURODUR (DEU) on a project with a customer that uses secondary fuels. It consists of “fluff” (a mixture of plastic, paper and textiles) and bone meal, both very abrasive materials.

EURODUR handled the sales coordination and the new silo systems were equipped with ESSERTWIN pipe. This partnership resulted in a new pipe brand offered by Eurodur: ESS-DUR.

  • Pipe sizes are matched to the application parameters (medium, throughput, system pressure, etc.)
  • Our popular Quick-Fix system was used to connect the pipe components. This system stands out for its self-centering collar geometry & single-screw coupling, which allows for quick assembly and disassembly. Quick-Fix is leak-tested up to 20 bar water pressure.
  • All pipe components are equipped with earthing lugs to safely dissipate any static charges that may develop.
  • ESSER TWIN 700 series was chosen for the straight section pipes; ESSER TWIN 900 series for bends and outlet pipes, which provide the best possible protection against wear at critical points of the pipeline.

The equipment & line isometrics were planned in partnership with our sales partner EURODUR & the customer. All the line components were marked to make them easily identifiable for re-order.

Our customer is very satisfied with the durability of the ESSER pipes (a test pipe from 2019 is still in use). Our partnership-based approach to engineering, production & responsiveness left a great impression, making them eager to recommend us to others.
